Двукратният световен шампион на 100 метра свободен стил Филипо Манини обяви, че се завръща в басейна три години, след като обяви оттеглянето си от активна спортна кариера. Целта пред 38-годишния плувец е участие на олимпийските игри в Токио, които бяха преместени за 2021 година заради ситуацията с COVID-19.
Манини обяви завръщането си в социалните мрежи, където качи видео от тренировка в Милано със своя треньор Клаудио Росето.

Non e stata una scelta facile ma ho deciso di tornare. Sono passato attraverso il buio, ho quasi toccato il fondo ma tutto questo al posto di buttarmi giu mi ha dato la giusta motivazione per lottare, per vincere, per tornare a gareggiare dimostrando quello che e sempre stato il mio valore sportivo. Oggi il mio sport sta soffrendo e non posso rimanere a guardare. Io torno in acqua, per me, per la mia famiglia per il mio paese. E ufficiale...ci vediamo ai blocchi di partenza. #ReMagnoIsBack . . .
